Kudu Acquires Minority Stake in Sage

On December 13, 2023, Seward & Kissel client Kudu Investment Management, LLC announced that it had acquired a minority stake in Sage Advisory Services, Ltd.

Under the terms of the transaction, Kudu Investment Management, LLC (“Kudu”) acquired a minority stake in Sage Advisory Services, Ltd. (“Sage”). Seward & Kissel served as counsel to Kudu, with a team comprised of Partners Meir Grossman, Danielle Lemberg, David Baron, Brett Cotler and Brad Fay, Counsel Michael O’Brien, Associates Jeffrey Dorman, Grace Dahlstrom, Elyse Moy, Bryan Coe, and Connor Smith. Financial terms were not disclosed. 

Kudu, based in New York, is a registered investment advisor providing long-term capital solutions. Kudu specializes in minority equity investments in asset management firms, wealth management firms, and pooled investment vehicles in the United States and internationally. As of September 2023, Kudu had approximately $115 billion in partner assets under management. 

Sage, based in Austin, Texas, is an investment manager offering fixed-income management, tactical ETF strategies, and liability-driven solutions for institutional and private clients. As of November 2023, Sage had $23 billion in assets under management.
