Guardian Life Invests in HPS

On February 9, 2022, HPS Investment Partners announced that it received a strategic investment from The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

Under the terms of the transaction, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (“Guardian Life”) acquired a minority equity stake in HPS Investment Partners. Guardian Life will provide HPS with capital funds to use in various investment opportunities and the companies will form a partnership to share best practices. Further terms were not disclosed.

Guardian Life, based in New York, is a mutual life insurance company providing a range of insurance, investment, and wealth management services. As of December 2020, Guardian Life had $9.5 billion in capital and $1.7 billion in operating income.

HPS, based in New York, is an investment firm. As of December 2021, HPS had $80 billion of assets under management. Guardian received financial advice from Berkshire Global Advisors on the transaction.
