Independent Financial Partners Acquires Van Horn Financial Services and Severn Financial Advisors
Independent Financial Partners (“IFP”) announced, on August 11, 2026, its acquisition of Van Horn Financial Services (“Van Horn”) and Severn Financial Advisors (“Severn”). Under the terms of the transaction, Van Horn, led by advisor Graham Van Horn, and Severn, led by advisors Stephen James and Carly James, joined IFP. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
IFP, based in Tampa, Florida, is a broker-dealer, registered investment adviser, and wealth management platform offering resources to financial professionals. IFP has approximately $21 billion in assets under advisement.
Van Horn, based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is a financial services and wealth management firm, offering asset preservation, investment management, retirement income planning, wealth management, and wealth transfer services. Severn, based in Annapolis, Maryland, is a registered investment adviser offering financial planning and investment management services. Van Horn and Severn, collectively have approximately $400 million in client assets.
