Emigrant Partners Acquires Minority Interest in Gerber Taylor

On July 22, 2021, it was announced that Gerber Taylor Capital Advisors LP received a minority investment from Seward & Kissel client Emigrant Partners, LLC.

Pursuant to the terms of the transaction, Emigrant Partners, LLC (“Emigrant”) acquired a minority stake in Gerber Taylor Capital Advisors LP (“Gerber”). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gerber, based in Memphis, is an independent registered investment advisor that provides investment management and investment advisory services, focusing on individuals, family offices, endowments/foundations and retirement plans. Gerber has approximately $6.3 billion in assets under management and $7.5 billion in assets under advisement. Raymond James Financial, Inc. acted as financial advisor to Gerber on the transaction.

Emigrant is a New York based capital advisory services partner that specializes in non-voting, minority investments in wealth and asset managers. Emigrant and its affiliate Fiduciary Network are currently partnered with 19 firms with approximately $78 billion in aggregate assets under advisement and assets under management.  A Seward & Kissel team led by partners Jim Abbott and Jim Cofer, counsel Robert Wood and associate Stephanie Winkler represented Emigrant in connection with the transaction.
