Commerzbank Acquires a Majority Interest in Aquila Capital

On January 18, 2024, Commerzbank AG announced that it acquired a 74.9% majority interest in Aquila Capital.

Commerzbank AG (“Commerzbank”) announced on January 18, 2024 that it acquired a 74.9% majority interest in Aquila Capital Investmentgesellschaft (“Aquila”). Under the terms of the transaction, Aquila’s parent company Aquila Group retained 25.1% minority interest and Aquila continues to operate as a largely independent entity. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Commerzbank, based in Frankfurt, Germany, is an international bank serving private, small-business, and corporate clients.

Aquila, based in Hamburg, Germany, is an investment management company focusing on real assets and sustainable investments. As of September 2023, Aquila had €14.6 billion in assets under management.
