On October 20, 2022, Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. announced that it will acquire AlphaSimplex Group, LLC.
Under the terms of the transaction, Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (“Virtus”) will acquire AlphaSimplex Group, LLC (“AlphaSimplex”). AlphaSimplex will become a boutique division of Virtus, where it will maintain autonomy over its business and continue serving existing clients. Virtus is making the acquisition from Natixis Investment Managers, a Paris-based firm which held 100% of AlphaSimplex. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. Further terms were not disclosed.
Virtus, based in Hartford, CT, is a partnership of investment managers that service individual and institutional investors. Virtus reported assets under management of $157.8 billion as of August 31, 2022. Piper Sandler & Co. provided financial advice to Virtus on the transaction.
AlphaSimplex, based in Boston, is a registered investment advisor firm that focuses on liquid futures and forward contracts. AlphaSimplex has $10.9 billion assets under management.
