Northern Trust to acquire Aurora Investment Management

On March 2, 2016, 50 South Capital Advisors, LLC, a subsidiary of Northern Trust Corporation, announced it will acquire Aurora Investment Management L.L.C., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Natixis Global Asset Management.

After closing, 50 South Capital Advisors, LLC’s global alternatives platform is anticipated to increase to approximately $9 billion. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016 and is subject to customary closing conditions. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, however.

50 South Capital Advisors, LLC is an alternatives asset management firm with approximately $3.3 billion in assets under management and approximately $1.4 billion assets under advisement, as of December 31, 2015.

Founded in 1988, Aurora Investment Management L.L.C. (“Aurora”) is a manager of hedge fund portfolios, based in Chicago, Illinois. Aurora focuses on seeding and co-investing with investment managers and has relationships with high net worth and institutional investors.
