Merchant Investment Management (“Merchant”) announced on August 27, 2025, its minority stake investment in Validus Capital (“Validus”). Validus’ team will remain in place under the terms of this minority stake. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Merchant, based in New York, is an alternative asset management firm that also invests in and serves as a lender to registered investment advisors. Merchant manages approximately $250 billion in client assets.
Validus, based in El Segundo, California, is a registered investment advisor offering investment strategy, private fund advisory, and comprehensive reporting services. Validus has approximately $2.5 billion in client assets.
