Kudu Makes Minority Investment in Apera

On July 25, 2023, Seward & Kissel client Kudu Investment Management, LLC announced that it had acquired a minority stake in Apera Asset Management. 

Under the terms of the transaction, Kudu Investment Management, LLC (“Kudu”) acquired a minority stake in Apera Asset Management, LLP (“Apera”). Kudu acquired the stake from non-Apera shareholders, and Apera founders Klaus Petersen, David Wilmot and Robert Shaw will continue to manage Apera after the transaction. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Kudu, based in New York, is a registered investment adviser providing long-term capital solutions. Kudu specializes in minority equity investments in asset management firms, wealth management firms, and pooled investment vehicles in the United States and internationally. Kudu has approximately $74 billion in assets under management. 

Apera, based in London, is a private debt manager that provides capital solutions to mid-market companies in Western Europe. Apera has over $2.9 billion in assets under management.
