Kudu Acquires Minority Interest in Creation Investments

On March 31, 2020, Seward & Kissel client Kudu Investment Management, LLC announced that it had acquired a minority interest in Creation Investments Capital Management, LLC.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kudu Investment Management, LLC (“Kudu”) was issued a minority, non-controlling stake in Creation Investments Capital Management, LLC (“Creation”). Terms of the deal were not announced. A Seward & Kissel team led by partners Meir Grossman and Jon Brose, counsel Julia Spivack, and associates Danielle Lemberg, Kristy Choi, Taylor Mielnicki, Katherine Porter, Brett Cotler, Jay Baroody and Steven Starr represented Kudu in connection with the transaction.

Creation, headquartered in Chicago, is an investment management company that focuses on private equity investments in the financial services industry. As of December 31, 2019, it manages approximately $707 million in private funds on behalf of individuals, families and institutional investors.

Kudu, based in New York, is a registered investment advisor that specializes in minority equity investments in asset management firms, wealth management firms, and pooled investment vehicles in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Kudu’s partners include B|O|S, TIG Advisors, Versus Capital and Fair Oaks Capital. PL Advisors, through its relationship with M&A Securities Group, served as financial advisor on the transaction.
