Hartford Funds to Acquire Lattice Strategies

On May 18, 2016, Hartford Funds announced that it had agreed to acquire Lattice Strategies, an investment management firm based in San Francisco.

The acquisition brings Hartford Funds into the strategic beta exchange-traded funds space.  Hartford Funds intends to keep Lattice Strategies’ San Francisco office open after the transaction is completed. Hartford Funds will also bring on the Lattice Strategies team of more than 20 professionals under the terms of the agreement.  The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016. 

Hartford Funds is a provider of mutual funds and college savings plans.  It offers more than 45 mutual funds, primarily sub-advised by Wellington Management.  It has mutual fund assets under management of $73.6 billion as of March 31, 2016. 

Lattice Strategies is an investment management firm specializing in strategic beta exchange-traded funds.  They offer a range of solutions, including liquid endowments, alternatives, equity, and income strategies.  Lattice Strategies has $215 million in assets under management as of March 31, 2016.
