Franklin Templeton to Acquire O’Shaughnessy Asset Management

On September 30, 2021, it was announced that Franklin Resources, Inc. d/b/a Franklin Templeton will acquire O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, LLC.

Under the terms of the transaction, Franklin Resources, Inc. d/b/a Franklin Templeton (“Franklin Templeton”) will acquire O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, LLC (“OSAM”). OSAM’s 40+ team members are expected to join Franklin Templeton. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Franklin Templeton (NYSE: BEN), based in San Mateo, California, is a global investment management organization, providing services to retail, institutional, and sovereign wealth clients. Franklin Templeton had approximately $130 billion in assets under management as of August 31, 2021.

OSAM, based in Stamford, Connecticut, is a quantitative asset management firm offering a broad range of equity portfolios to institutional investors, individual investors, and high-net-worth clients of financial advisors. As of December 31, 2020, OSAM had approximately $5.3 billion in assets under management and under advisement.
