Franklin Templeton to Acquire Edinburgh Partners

On January 17, 2018, Franklin Templeton announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire Edinburg Partners.

Under the terms of the agreement, Franklin Templeton Investments (“Franklin Templeton”) will acquire Edinburgh Partners Limited (“Edinburgh”) for an undisclosed sum. Dr. Sandy Naim will become chairman of Templeton Global Equity Group and retain his position as CEO of Edinburgh. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2018 and is subject to regulatory approvals. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Franklin Templeton (NYSE:BEN), also known as Franklin Resources, Inc., is a California-based global investment management organization that focuses on equity, fixed income, alternative, and other investment management solutions. Franklin Templeton has $753 billion of assets under management as of December 31, 2017.

Edinburgh is an Edinburgh-based independent fund management company that specializes in global and emerging markets equities. Edinburgh has approximately $10 billion of assets under management as of December 31, 2017.
