Fortress and Mubadala Acquire Fortress Investment Group Stake

On May 15, 2024, Fortress Investment Group LLC and Mubadala Investment Company announced that they acquired 90.01% of Fortress Investment Group’s equity previously owned by Softbank Group Corp.

Fortress Investment Group LLC (“Fortress”) and Mubadala Investment Company (“Mubadala”), through its wholly owned asset management subsidiary, Mubadala Capital, announced on May 15, 2024, that they acquired 90.01% of Fortress’ equity previously held by Soft Bank Group Corp. (“SoftBank”). Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fortress, based in New York City, is an investment management firm that manages assets on behalf of institutional clients and private investors in credit and real estate, private equity and permanent capital investment strategies. Fortress has $48 billion in assets under management.

Mubadala, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is a global sovereign investor that manages private equity funds, four early-stage venture funds, two special opportunities funds in Brazil, and an evergreen investment strategy focused on private market opportunities. Mubadala has approximately $20 billion assets under management.
