Carlyle Group Acquires AlpInvest

On January 26, 2011, private equity firm The Carlyle Group announced an agreement to acquire AlpInvest Partners, a $43.3 billion private equity fund of funds manager.


On January 26, 2011, private equity firm The Carlyle Group announced an agreement to acquire AlpInvest Partners, a private equity fund manager, from APG and PGGM.  While APG and PGGM, both pension fund asset managers, will pursue their own multi-client strategies, Carlyle has secured their commitment to invest an additional $13.5 billion in AlpInvest over the next four years.  AlpInvest is a global private equity fund-of-fund manager with approximately $43.3 billion in assets under management.  The financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in March 2011, were not disclosed.
