Cardano to Acquire Actiam

On October 21, 2021, Athora Netherlands N.V. announced an agreement to sell its asset manager, ACTIAM N.V., to Cardano Group.

Under the terms of the transaction, Cardano Group (“Cardano”) will acquire ACTIAM N.V. (“Actiam”), Athora Netherlands N.V.’s (“Athora”) asset manager. Eighty Actiam employees will join Cardano. The transaction begins a long-term strategic partnership, with a ten-year exclusivity period, between Athora and Cardano. The transaction, subject to customary approvals and regulatory conditions, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.

Cardano, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is a privately-owned risk and investment specialist, focusing on liability driven investments strategies. Cardano consults on approximately €450 billion and manages approximately €30 billion in pension assets.

Actiam, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is an asset management company, managing approximately €21.5 billion in client assets.
