Berens Capital To Join Alternative Investment Group

On April 12, 2018, Alternate Investment Group announced that Seward & Kissel client Berens Capital Management would become part of Alternative Investment Group.

Berens Capital Management (“Berens”) co-CIOs Rodney Berens and Timothy Schilt will become partners of Alternative Investment Group (“Alternative”). Berens President Kathleen Phillips-Lohrmann will join Alternative’s Management Committee. A Seward & Kissel team led by Business Transactions Group partner Craig Sklar, Employment partner Anne Patin, and Tax counsel Dan Murphy are representing Berens in connection with the transaction. The transaction is expected to close June 1st. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alternative is an investment firm with approximately $900 million in assets under management, with four multi-manager hedge fund strategies: diversified, international, opportunistic, and sustainability/ESG.

Berens is a global asset manager with approximately $350 million in assets under management specializing in emerging and frontier markets.
