Bartlett Buys Firm Back from Legg Mason

On January 27, 2012, Cincinnati.com reported that employees of Bartlett & Co. had bought the firm from Baltimore-based asset management firm Legg Mason.


On January 27, 2012, Cincinnati.com reported that employees of Bartlett & Co. had bought the firm from Legg Mason after selling it to the asset management firm more than 16 years ago.  Bartlett, which had approximately $2.6 billion under management prior to the transaction, will form Bartlett & Co. LLC.  The Cincinnati, Ohio-based firm provides complex estate planning and other services to high-net-worth individuals, families, endowments, and foundations.  Legg Mason is a Baltimore-based global asset management firm which now focuses on mutual fund management.  Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
