Ashmore Buys Aviva’s Stake in China JV

On September 12, 2012, Financial News reported that emerging markets fund manager Ashmore Investment Management had purchased Aviva Investors’ 49% stake in a prospective asset management joint venture with China Central Securities.


On September 12, 2012, Financial News reported that Ashmore Investment Management has purchased Aviva Plc’s 49% stake in a prospective asset management joint venture with Chinese investment firm China Central Securities.  Ashmore is an emerging markets fund manager with approximately $64 billion in assets under management.  Due to Chinese ownership regulations, the ownership is structured as a joint venture.  The prospective joint venture is subject to regulatory approval, which has been pending since 2009.
