On January 21, 2020, Amundi Asset Management announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire Sabadell Asset Management.
Pursuant to the agreement, Amundi Asset Management (“Amundi”) will acquire Sabadell Asset Management (“Sabadell”), the asset management unit of Spain’s Banco de Sabadell SA. Sabadell and Amundi Iberia will remain separate legal entities. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2020, subject to regulatory approval. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Amundi, based in France, is a publicly traded asset manager specializing in smart beta, ETF, real estate, alternative assets, structured and guaranteed solutions, discretionary asset management solutions, global fixed income and global equities. Amundi is Europe’s largest asset manager by assets under management with €1.563 trillion in assets under management, as of January 2020.
Sabadell, based in Spain, is a management company of Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities. It has €21.8 billion in assets as of January 2020.
