AIG Seeds Varagon Capital Partners, Targets Middle Market

On June 11, 2014, Varagon Capital Partners, a New York-based, middle market-focused asset manager, seeded by an initial $1.5 billion investment commitment from American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) and backed by Oak Hill Capital Management, announced its launch.


On June 11, 2014, Varagon Capital Partners announced its formation.  Varagon, a New York-based, middle market-focused asset manager, has launched with an initial $1.5 billion investment commitment from American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) and is backed by partners and affiliates of private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Management.  Varagon focuses on both direct lending to middle market companies, as well as a means to invest in middle market credit.  On the borrower side, Varagon offers first-lien, unitranche, and second-lien loans, as well as mezzanine financing options, to companies with $10-75 million of EBITDA, and targets leveraged finance opportunities of up to $350 million.
