Adviser Investments to Acquire E*Trade’s Kobren Insight

On March 22, 2011, financialplanning.com reported that E*Trade had agreed to sell wealth manager Kobren Insight Management to Adviser Investment Management in a leveraged buyout financed by a minority equity investment by Fiduciary Network.


On March 22, 2011, financialplanning.com reported that Adviser Investment Management will acquire Wellesley, Massachusetts-based wealth manager Kobren Insight Management in a leveraged buyout from E*Trade for an undisclosed amount.  Fiduciary Network, an affiliate of Emigrant Savings Bank, financed the transaction and received a non-voting ownership stake of approximately 20% in Adviser Investments.  The combined firm will retain the Adviser Investment Management name and will operate out of Adviser Investments’ Newtown, Massachusetts headquarters.  The transaction will increase Adviser Investments’ assets under management to approximately $2 billion.  Investment bank Silver Lane Advisors was retained by E*Trade and initiated the transaction.
