On September 22, 2014, Reuters reported that British firm Aberdeen Asset Management PLC received approval from the Indonesian financial services authority to proceed with the acquisition of 80% of NISP Asset Management, an Indonesian firm. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
NISP Asset Management’s majority owner is PT NISP Sekuritas, which is controlled by Indonesia's Surjaudaja family. NISP Asset Management has approximately 3.5 trillion rupiah ($292.6 million) under management as of February 2014.
Aberdeen Asset Management manages approximately $551.4 billion of assets globally as of June 2014.
